The wireless industry's spotlight on moving to 5G is well documented, but many service providers and vendors like AT&T (NYSE: T), Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) are just as keen to take advantage of software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV).
