AT&T wins $10.4M cloud-based 911 service contract for the U.S. Navy

AT&T Government Solutions (NYSE: T) has been awarded a $10.4 million contract by the U.S. Navy to provide its cloud-based 911 routing and call handling solutions to Navy facilities nationwide.

To ensure necessary operational redundancy and uptime, the network it built for the Navy is supported by four geographically diverse AT&T Data Centers (ADCs). A total of 61 call taker workstations have been deployed at five Regional Dispatch Centers (RDCs) and three "hybrid" Local Dispatch Centers to receive 911 calls.

AT&T's solution also supports future migration to enhanced 911 or Next Generation 911 services.

Gaining this 911 Navy contract adds to AT&T's growing list of public sector clients.

In addition to the Navy, the telco has won seats on a number of other prominent government agency contracts, including the Army's Project Manager, Defense Communications Army Transmission Systems (PM DCATS) program, $53 million in data network contracts with the U.S. Postal Service, and the GSA's Region 4 Integrated Telecommunications Services (GRITS II) contract.
