BayRing Communications leverages FirstLight Fiber to extend fiber reach in New England

New England CLEC BayRing Communications and New York/New England facilities-based telecom service provider FirstLight Fiber have joined forces to enhance their fiber capabilities within the regional markets they serve throughout New England.

Specifically, the companies said in a press release, BayRing will use FirstLight's metro Ethernet to extend its network reach while FirstLight will use BayRing's dark fiber network in specific areas to extend its reach throughout several hundred miles of fiber optic network in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

"FirstLight has been a proven partner in helping BayRing to maintain a strong, local presence by providing Ethernet circuits in areas that previously had not had many meaningful alternatives for high bandwidth local loops," David Gibson, director of business development at BayRing Communications, said in a news release.

FirstLight offers point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint connections that scale up to 100 Gbps, the companies said in the news release.

The expanded relationship now allows BayRing to "seamlessly support its customers regardless of where they are located," concluded Kurt Van Wagenen, FirstLight's president-CEO.
