Bell Aliant turns to GENBAND to power up its UC service suite

Bell Aliant (Toronto: BA-UN.TO) has employed GENBAND to advance its unified communications (UC) drive for its business customer base.

The Canadian service provider will leverage GENBAND's C20 Converged Softswitch and A2 Converged Application Server for its Total Office bundle, which offers business customers fully managed Internet access, Centrex voice, dedicated technical support in addition to business collaboration and productivity tools including Microsoft business email and a PC-based VoIP phone.

Already, Bell Aliant's Total Office bundle is catching on as the City of Saint John, New Brunswick, has contracted the telco to upgrade its Centrex network of over 700 Centrex users across 13 locations.

Ian MacKinnon, Manager, Information Technology for the City of Saint John said the Bell Aliant's enabled it to do achieve three goals: reduce total telecom service costs while leveraging existing network investments; enable collaboration between the city's geographically dispersed teams regardless of location; and provide a means to generate future business and productivity improvements.
