Birch enhances metro fiber service in Houston, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C.

Birch Communications is enhancing its business services capabilities by launching a large network expansion of its fiber-based services in three of its fastest growing markets--Houston, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

A big focus of this expansion will be on increasing its on-net building fiber footprint.

Upon completion, the expansion will bring Birch's fiber network to an additional 60 on-net buildings in these three markets, bringing the total to 640 buildings across the United States. Today, Birch offers its fiber-based voice and data services in seven major metro markets, while it provides its suite of voice, network, cloud and IT solutions in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico.

One of the key benefits for Birch and its customers is that by owning its own fiber network in these markets, they can control the quality of service for each business customer.

"Most importantly, our exclusive Fiber network allows us to control 100% of our customer's experience to optimize service delivery," said David Gibson, vice president of Business Development, in a release.

While this is Birch's latest expansion effort, it's not its last. The service provider said that its 2015 roadmap includes expanding its fiber services to several other markets in the coming months. The focus of these fiber network builds will be on extending the network footprint into large, multi-tenant buildings and facilities in Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets nationwide.

Outside of these new markets, the service provider has been enhancing its fiber reach in other markets, including Kentucky and throughout the existing footprint it gained when it purchased Cbeyond.
