Brazil's broadband market increased 51 percent in 2010

Brazil's Associacao Brasileira de Telecomunicacoes (Telebrasil) confirmed the fact that Brazilian consumers like their wireline and wireless broadband connections.

As of the end of March 2011, there were 38.5 million wireline and wireless broadband connections, up 51.5 percent year-on-year.

Since last year, wireline broadband subscribership rose 20.5 percent to 14 million subscribers, while mobile broadband growth was up 77.7 percent to 24.4 million up from 13.7 million in 2010.

To keep up with broadband demand, a number of Brazil's dominant broadband providers, including Telefonica's Telesp and GVT have upped their respective capex plans to expand broadband availability throughout Brazil.
