Broadband adoption across EU hits 24 percent

The European Commission has come out with a new report that suggests broadband adoption continues to grow in Europe despite the sluggish economy. The report says that about 24 percent of the population of the European Union countries had broadband access as of July 2009. That translates to a total of 120 million broadband lines, and represents an increase of about 2.4 percent from the same month a year earlier. The more impressive finding from the report, however, is that a whopping 80 percent of broadband lines in EU countries now have a download capability of 2 Mbps or more. How did they do it? A few folks in Washington, D.C., really would like to know.
