Broadvox, Cypress Communications reveal merger plans

Broadvox and Cypress Communications have decided that they would be more powerful if they combined their resources into one larger company.

Both service providers bring different yet complementary assets to the table.

Cypress, for one, has gained recognition for bringing unified communications as a service (UCaaS) product to SMBs and SMEs, while Broadvox brings its wholesale SIP Origination and Terminating service experience. Broadvox has in recent years extended its SIP Trunking and virtual PBX hosting services to SMBs and SMEs.

Touting a seamless transition, both service providers said neither customer base will be affected by the merger. Existing Cypress C4 IP (targeted mainly at enterprises) and Broadvox GO! VBX (targeted at SMBs) will continue to be able to access their current feature sets, phones and technology platforms as usual.

When the deal is complete, Cypress will be able to leverage Broadvox's network backbone for direct origination and termination of voice traffic, while Broadvox will be able to extend more of Cypress Communications' UC suite of services to its existing SMB and SME customer base.
