Broadweave to acquire embattled iProvo

Fiber network operator Broadweave is acquiring iProvo, the initially much ballyhooed but not very successful municipal fiber network in Provo, Utah. The network supplying triple play services to 10,400 residents in Provo will be sold for $40.6 million. Customer sign-up had been slow entering 2007, and in the spring of last year, Provo city officials began entertaining acquisition offers for the network. The network reportedly was on course to lose $2 million this year.
