BT reviewing 21CN progress

Since two executives who were involved in BT's 21st Century Network (21CN) project recently left the company, industry observers have wondered if much-celebrated project is encountering problems. BT denied that's the case, acknowledging that it has begun a technical review of the project that it undertakes on a regular basis. The company also said its corporate restructuring earlier this year resulted in some executive moves and departures, but that there hasn't been a wholesale culling of personnel from the project.

Industrywide, carriers and vendors have closely watched the 21CN's progress, as BT has been quick to adopt technologies such as provider backbone transport that other network operators are considering and testing.
