BT serves up Black Friday broadband package discounts

BT (NYSE: BT) has taken on the Black Friday challenge by offering discounts for its Totally Unlimited Broadband (ADSL2+ and Fiber to the Cabinet/BT Infinity) packages for customers who sign up by midnight on Dec. 1.

Under the Unlimited Broadband plus Weekend calls plan, customers can get up to 17 Mbps Internet speeds for $8 a month for one year and $27 a month for line rental. As an added incentive, this plan comes with a $79 Sainsbury's gift card. Customers also have the option of adding BT TV for $8 a month plus a $55 activation fee.

For customers that want more bandwidth, BT's Unlimited Infinity 1 plus Weekend offers up to 38 Mbps for $16 a month for one year. Eligible customers still have to pay the $27 a month line rental and a $47 activation fee.

Any customer that signs up for the Unlimited Infinity 1 plus Weekend plan can add BT TV for an additional $8 a month for 6 months, which then rises to $12 a month. Customers will receive a $157 Sainsbury's gift card.

Offering promotional deals during the Christmas season makes sense for BT as it tries to maintain its consumer revenue momentum. During its fiscal Q2 earnings season, BT's consumer revenues rose 7 percent to $1.68 billion due to higher broadband and TV revenue, helping to offset declines in wholesale and global services.
