C Spire adds next-gen home automation to its service lineup

C Spire has found yet another use for the FTTH network it is building in Mississippi: home automation, which is being added into a suite of services it calls C Spire Home.

"C Spire Home is a next-generation suite of Internet, digital television, phone, security, monitoring and automation services that helps move us one step closer to making our home a hub for smarter living," Suzy Hays, C Spire's senior vice president of consumer markets, said in a corporate press release. "With its unique integration and an intuitive app to easily control every feature, this platform gives consumers what they want and need--meaningful applications coupled with simple, easy interfaces."

According to the press release, C Spire Home's all-digital IP-based services "will be the first in Mississippi offered by a telecommunications provider" and will offer control and security of homes via any Web-enabled device.

C Spire Home, the press release said, will "offer consumers a simple process" for home automation, but the company did not say how much that would cost, instead deferring details on monthly pricing and one-time installation costs to a later time. Initial availability will be in one or more of the first C Spire FTTH cities of Quitman, Ridgeland and Starkville, Miss., the release stated.
