Cable & Wireless targets Asia for expansion

British telecom Cable & Wireless has its sights set on huge growth in Asia and the Middle East this year and expects to double its revenue in the region, CEO Jim Marsh told the South China Morning Post.

Tech spending in the region has been solid and is projected to grow as more users come online. C&W just committed to a three-year, $20 million deal for backbone connectivity that will allow it to grow its enterprise business in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.

"Asia-Pacific continues to show significant momentum as growth markets such as China and India advance and emerging markets show greater acceleration," Marsh told the SCMP. "Our customers continue to expand across the region and look for our help to support their business growth."
