Cbeyond goes nationwide with its cloud-based voice service
Cbeyond is now offering its TotalCloud Phone System (TCPS) cloud-based managed voice platform on a national basis to small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). The new service is being supported and marketed to new and existing customers by a larger national sales and support force.
A key element of the service expansion is accessibility. Any SMB that subscribes to the service can use its existing broadband connection, including traditional DSL, cable or fiber, to access it.
TCPS, which was launched in 2012, addresses the fact that most SMBs lack the in-house IT staff. Because it's a cloud-based service, it will also help SMBs forgo the initial equipment expenditures and the ongoing labor and support costs to support a premise-based solution like a PBX or key system.
In addition, Cbeyond is addressing the mobile nature of SMBs by offering customers its complementary Communications on the Go solution, which bundles a number of its products and features: TotalCloud Phone System, Cbeyond Communicator (for desktop and mobile) and Cbeyond Mobile, nationwide. Being able to support multiple devices will allow employees to engage with one another and their customers from any location.
While Cbeyond is in the process of being acquired by Birch Communications, the service provider is continuing to expand its product sets and network reach. In May, the company announced that it would extend its dark fiber facilities to SMBs in six markets that reside in large, multi-tenant buildings.
