CenturyLink becomes Orlando Magic's official video provider
CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) will up its visibility with existing and new IPTV consumers in Florida by signing a multi-year deal to become the exclusive video provider for the Orlando Magic basketball team.
During the course of the partnership, CenturyLink said the interactive features of its Prism TV service will be highlighted via touchpoints with the basketball team's fans "in-arena and in-market, including special service offers for Magic fans throughout the season."
In addition, the Prism TV service will support the MagicTV section on OrlandoMagic.com.
Enhancing its marketing efforts in Orlando via this partnership comes as CenturyLink continues to rack up new IPTV customers in Florida, one of its initial markets for the service.
During the second quarter, the telco added more than 12,200 Prism TV subscribers, up 10 percent sequentially from Q1 2013. Penetration of the service has reached nearly 9 percent, including Phoenix and Colorado Springs.
