Charter targets lower-income families with $14.99 a month broadband service

Charter Communications (NASDAQ: CHTR) will introduce a new low-cost broadband service for lower-income families, fulfilling its promise to regulators to get approval of its pending acquisitions of Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC).

The service provider will provide qualifying subscribers with 30 Mbps downstream and 4 Mbps upstream speeds for $14.99 a month.
