Cincinnati Bell adds NFL Network to Fioptics lineup
Cincinnati Bell (NYSE: CBB) announced on Monday that its Fioptics customers will now be able to get the NFL Network beginning Aug. 16.
Available on channels 209 and 609 (high definition), the channel will be available to football fans in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
On Sept. 13, the NFL will show its first game with the Green Bay Packers hosting the Chicago Bears.
In addition to regular season games, users can get access to other features such as original broadcast versions of past Super Bowls, in-week replays of current games, and original network telecasts of classic NFL regular season and postseason games.
Similar to its recent move to give Fioptics customers access to ESPN3, a multiscreen sports network, adding NFL Network represents a way for the telco to add more value to its fledgling IPTV business.
While it will report Q2 earnings this Wednesday, Cincinnati Bell's wireline unit added 3,000 new Fioptics entertainment subscribers and 4,000 new Fioptics broadband Internet subscribers in Q1, ending the quarter with 43,000 entertainment and broadband Internet subscribers.
