Cincinnati Bell buys CenturyTel Dayton ops

Cincinnati Bell has acquired CenturyTel's operations in Dayton, Ohio for about $1.5 million. It's not a big deal to be sure, but Cincinnati Bell has been busy of late on the acquisition track, having bought both data back-up firm GramTel USA and CLEC eGix in recent months. The company also grabbed the innovation mantle by launching a fixed-mobile converged service last year ahead of many other telcos.

Though acquisition charges hurt its most recent quarterly profit, Cincinnati Bell seems to be suddenly thriving under former herbal tea and General Electric salesman Jack Cassidy, the firm's CEO.
