Cisco to acquire network security equipment maker Neohapsis

Cisco is acquiring network, cloud and app security provider Neohapsis and will fold it into its Cisco Security Services organization, the two companies announced.

Cisco will use the Neohapsis assets to create an advisory service to help companies keep pace with evolving threats by using new technologies to protect their businesses, Hilton Romanski, SVP and head of corporate development at Cisco wrote in a blog post.

Neohapsis, he added, brings the expertise to "deliver comprehensive services to help customers build the security capabilities required to remain secure and competitive in today's markets. This will help our customers overcome operational and technical security vulnerabilities, achieve a comprehensive view of their risks, take advantage of new business models and define structured approaches for better protection."

Chicago-based Neohapsis "will be the perfect strategic match" for Cisco "given our services and research mission," Neohapsis President-CEO James Mobley said in his own blog posting. "Because of Neohapsis' and Cisco's shared focus on the Internet of Everything, the opportunity to do groundbreaking work together is enormous."
