Cisco, CableLabs give cable operators testing ground for IPTV

Cable operators may still be testing the IPTV waters, but now they will have a place to try on services for size with a new IPTV Innovations Lab in Colorado. A key participant in this lab is Cisco, which is supplying it with its series of video and software products including routers, switches, cable modem termination systems and parts of its Videoscape software platform. Cable operator members such as Comcast (Nasdaq: CSCO), Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) and Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR) will be able to access the lab to develop pay-TV products that could be delivered on an all-IP platform, reports FierceCable.
