Cisco grabs 60 percent of Ethernet switch revenue in 2015, study finds
The Ethernet switch market had a record year in 2015, with more than $24 billion in revenue and multiple record-setting quarters, according to a new report from Dell'Oro Group. For example, Huawei surpassed $1 billion in revenue for the first time in its history.
Cisco sat firmly atop the list of Ethernet switch manufacturers in terms of revenue share, gaining 60 percent of all 2015 revenues in this segment. Huawei's billion-dollar year put it into third place with 4 percent of the market, behind Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, which has a 10 percent share.
This year may not be as big for Ethernet switches. "Entering 2016, we expect to see Cloud spending being robust as data center switching begins an upgrade cycle to 25/50 Gbps," said Dell'Oro VP Alan Weckel. "However we believe growth amongst Cloud customers will not be enough for the overall switch market to grow as robustly as it has since 2011." Release
