Clyburn nominated for FCC seat

Tools

The White House officially confirmed this week that Mignon Clyburn, a commissioner on the South Carolina Public Service Commission and the daughter of Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), will be nominated for one of the open seats on the Federal Communications Commission. The official word on Clyburn follows speculation that began more than a month ago that she would receive the Presidential nod to join the FCC. That speculation immediately followed the announcement of the departure of FCC commissioner Jonathan Adelstein, who was nominated for a role in the Rural Utilities Service.

There are still two open seats on the FCC. President Obama's choice for FCC Chairman, Julius Genachowski, also has not been approved yet.
