Colt, AT&T, and Level 3 gain Ethernet share in 2015, says research firm

Colt, AT&T (NYSE: T) and Level 3 continued to make progress in the global Ethernet market as their network buildouts in countries outside of their home base helped them gain market share, says Vertical Systems Group in their 2015 Global Provider Ethernet Leaderboard. Based on continued share gain in the second half of the year, Colt advanced took the second position on the 2015 Global Provider Leaderboard away from BT Global (NYSE: BT). AT&T and Level 3 were the only other Leaderboard-ranked companies to gain share in this segment during 2015.

However, Orange Business Services continued to be the dominant provider, taking the top spot in the research firm's rankings. Following Orange were the U.K.'s Colt and BT Global Services, AT&T, Verizon, Level 3 and Japan's NTT.

Taking a spot in VSG's Challenge Tier, which includes companies with share between 2 percent and 4 percent of this defined market were seven companies: Cogent, India's Global Cloud Xchange, Singapore's SingTel, Germany's T-Systems, India's Tata Communications, Spain's Telefonica Worldwide and the U.K.'s Vodafone.
