Comcast brings DOCSIS 3.0 to Bay Area

Tools

Cable TV giant Comcast has extended its DOCSIS 3.0 roll-out to the San Francisco Bay Area, including coverage in San Jose-Silicon Valley. The service, offering speeds up to 50 Mbps, arrives in the Bay Area as Comcast is seeking to deliver DOCSIS 3.0 capabilities to at least 65 percent of its national market footprint this year. Several other major markets already have had similar launches.

The Bay Area launch also comes as Comcast said it expects to grow revenue this year despite the tough economy and increasingly tough competition from telcos.
