Comcast Business lights Gigabit Ethernet service for Hilton San Francisco Union Square

Comcast Business (NASDAQ: CMCSA) has built out Ethernet services to the Hilton San Francisco Union Square hotel, a win that illustrates the cable MSO's growing presence in the hospitality vertical.

The hotel migrated off of two 500 Mbps circuits to two dedicated 1 Gbps circuits, both of which can be upgraded to 10 Gbps as demand for bandwidth dictates.

A key driver of the upgrade is focused on having greater bandwidth to satisfy its growing set of large business customers, particularly those in the technology sector, in guest rooms and meeting spaces.

"One of the essential amenities we offer to our guests is Internet and our goal to support as many users with as much bandwidth at the highest speed possible at any given time is made possible by using Comcast Business' Ethernet," said Pejman Parvazi, area manager for Information Technology at Hilton Worldwide, in a release.

After adopting Comcast Business' Ethernet services, Hilton San Francisco Union Square said it has been able to attract attract large-scale conferences and events based on their ability to support clients' broadband needs, including the ability to work online throughout the hotel and high-speed support for all devices.

Hilton San Francisco is just one of many new clients that have chosen Comcast Business as an alternative provider over the local incumbent telco AT&T (NYSE: T).

The service provider continues to make inroads with businesses and property owners in California and other states. Comcast Business completed its $350,000 investment to bring its facilities to the Meyers Business Park in Chico, Calif. earlier this month and invested $10 million to upgrade its fiber network in Denver.
