Comcast tests new home phone
Perhaps landline voice is no longer cool, but the re-invention of the home phone may be the hottest trends so far this year. After moves by Verizon, T-Mobile USA and others, cable TV company Comcast now says that it has tested an "enhanced cordless phone" (according to Cable Digital News) in Miami and Jacksonville, Fla., and is getting set for a nationwide launch for the product.
The VoIP phone, a DECT handset that leverages a DOCSIS adapter connection, will offer voice calling, e-mail, voice mail, some Internet access features and contact storage features. Thomson is thus far the primary vendor involved.

It is really amazing that with all of the new technology no one in the telco or cable industry has come out with a campaign that promotes call forwarding to what ever device you are with at the momemt, if it was priced right most would have both a cell and a land line to begin with and many times when contacting a cell number with voice mail ansering the call I find out later the battry went down.
