Congress nearing a deal on domestic surveillance

The politics of domestic spying and the role telcos have played in it are getting a closer look-and getting closer to being resolved as the year-long battle over telco immunity seems to finally be drawing to a close.

The Wall Street Journal today reports Congressional negotiators nearing a deal resolving how domestic spying powers are legislated and who actually has oversight.

The Journal also says the telco issue will be sent to the secret national-security court, resolving an issue that has rankled relations between the administration and Democratic lawmakers since 2006.
