Consolidation, wireless and FCC proposals dominated the headlines at INTX 2016

INTX audienceWhile this year's INTX tradeshow may not have met its attendance goals, the cable industry show saw a number of newsworthy moments related to controversial regulatory and technology topics.

FierceCable noted that there were a series of bright and dark spots at the show. Regulatory issues such as unlocking the pay-TV set-top leasing business and regulating rates on cable business services drew fire from NCTA chief Michael Powell, who declared the cable industry was under "relentless government assault" from the FCC.

On a slightly brighter side, cable operators outlined their vision for wireless, one that will include Wi-Fi networks, MVNO deals and a possible major role in the evolution to 5G.
