Could CDN Velocix see telco buyer?

The content delivery network market is one of the hottest current industry segments, both in terms of technology developments and business activity. The sector certainly is no stranger to acquisitions, and now StreamingMedia.com reports that CDN player Velocix is currently in talks with multiple parties about potentially being acquired. It's not clear who the interested parties are, but would anyone be surprised if Verizon Communications is one of them? Verizon and Velocix already are CDN partners, and the acquisition chatter comes at a time when telcos are becoming increasingly active with CDNs. Level 3 Communications, which became an early entrant in the CDN market through acquisition, would fit the profile as another possible buyer.
