Covad upgrades network, adds bonded T1

Covad Communications announced Wednesday it has upgraded its broadband network in a continuing effort to develop a full suite of access and network services. The upgrade, available to Covad's wholesale partners, provides Multiple Bonded T1 services capable of 6 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth.

The launch is part of Covad's long-term goal of upgrading the access edge of its network to better serve business customers.

"The broadband market is moving towards higher-bandwidth services, and Covad is committed to delivering a product portfolio that meets the market needs and helps our wholesale partners increase revenue," said Brett Flinchum, chief operations officer at Covad. "Leveraging the proven reliability of T1 technology to deliver these services allows Covad to reach more businesses than competitors using alternative technologies, maximizing our partners' revenue potential."

The new services will be deployed over Covad's nationwide MPLS network, according to the company.
