CTO leaves control plane innovator Soapstone

Tools

Larry Dennison, chief technology officer and co-founder of Soapstone Networks, which led recent developments in the area of software control planes for carrier Ethernet networks, has left the company, Soapstone acknowledged. Soapstone's Provider Network Controller for networks using provider backbone bridging (PBB) technology, just became available last month.

Soapstone actually is a revamp of the company Dennison previously co-founded--core router firm Avici Systems. Dedicated control planes are thought to allow carriers more flexibility in provisioning multi-point to multi-point applications that could heighten the value of deploying PBB.
