CWA, AT&T wireline union craft deal

AT&T and the Communications Workers Association (CWA) have hammered out a three-year contract that covers 7,000 union employees. With this latest agreement in place, nearly half of AT&T's 120,000 union workers are now covered under ratified contracts.

This latest deal follows similar agreements that AT&T made with the CWA in its Midwest and West regions. Late last week AT&T and the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) ratified an agreement.

The previous Legacy AT&T contract ran out in April, but union workers who reside in various U.S. regions continued to work under that expired contract. AT&T is currently in talks with the CWA in other regions whose contracts also expired in April along with the Midwest, West and Legacy AT&T. These include (CWA District 1) and Southwest (CWA District 6). In addition, AT&T is continuing negotiations in the Southeast (CWA District 3), where contracts expired in August.
