DNC a high-tech wonderland

Tools

With the Democratic National Convention in full swing, attendees are online with one of the most sophisticated communications networks ever installed for a single event.

At the Pepsi Convention Center, Qwest installed a massive fiber-optic network and equipment that can handle 130 simultaneous video feeds for the media. AT&T, meanwhile, says it expects more wireless traffic over its dedicated network than any single event in its history has had.

Some 5,000 delegates, 14,000 Democratic party members, officials and their families, and an estimated 15,000 media representatives will be on hand for the convention.
