EarthLink brings on EMC's Eazor as CEO, replacing Rolla Huff

EarthLink (Nasdaq: ELNK) is starting a new chapter, naming Joseph Eazor as its new president and CEO to replace Rolla Huff, who is retiring from the company.

Huff will continue to serve as the board chairman during a transition period.

Eazor, a 20-year IT industry veteran, comes from EDS where he most recently served as the company's EVP and COO of Global Sales and Customer Operations. When Eazor takes the reins on Jan. 13, he will also become a member of EarthLink's board of directors.

Before coming to EMC, Eazor held a number of senior leadership positions at HP (NYSE: HPQ) and EDS, including SVP and GM of HP Enterprise Services, EVP of EDS Corporate Strategy and Development, and president of EDS Asia Pacific.

His appointment and IT experience comes at a transitional time for EarthLink.

The competitive provider has been continually enhancing its IT service portfolio both organically and through targeted acquisitions such as CenterBeam, which gave it additional cloud and hosted voice service capabilities. EarthLink will offer CenterBeam's 365+ Enterprise Cloud service, Unified End Point Management and Help Desk solutions through its distribution channels.

Also, EarthLink announced during its third quarter earnings call that it was considering the formation a holding company with EarthLink Inc. becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary.
