Embarq chooses MetaSwitch IP gear

Independent telco Embarq has picked vendor MetaSwitch to support a rollout of new IP service features to business customers. The telco will be using MetaSwitch's IP softswitch, media gateway and MetaSphere applications suite to support the features being added to its Internet and voice offerings.

New Embarq Smart IP Enterprise features are targeted toward the smaller end of the business spectrum. They will include click-to-dial integrated with Microsoft Outlook, Auto Attendant and Music on Hold, advanced voice mail, rules-based call-forwarding, SimRing, sequential ring and remote click-to-dial, according to a story at Telephony. MetaSwitch has had solid success with many smaller telcos, and Embarq represents the top of the independent market in terms of market breadth and customer base size.
