Energy-efficient set-top boxes cut consumer energy costs by $168M, says NCTA report

While the debate over how much energy set-top boxes consume will continue, a new National Cable Telecommunications Association (NCTA) report revealed that energy-efficient set-top boxes helped consumers save $168 million in energy costs last year. The NCTA's report highlights the results of a voluntary program initiated in 2012 by 11 major pay-TV operators and a group of consumer electronics companies, various advocacy groups and the Department of Energy.
