Equinix brings Microsoft's Azure ExpressRoute to Washington, D.C.

Equinix is giving Washington, D.C., businesses another option to get Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Azure ExpressRoute by offering the service out of its Washington, D.C., Cloud Exchange facility.

Customers now have the option of connecting to Microsoft Azure in Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers in the Washington, D.C., metro area, which is one of the largest interconnection points.

The U.S. capital is just one of several markets where it is offering Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute service.

In April, the service provider announced that it would make the Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute available in 16 global markets inside Equinix IBX data centers throughout the rest of the year.

Establishing partnerships with other solution providers has been core to Equinix's cloud services strategy.

Level 3 Communications announced in May that it was integrating Equinix Cloud Exchange into its Cloud Connect Solutions ecosystem out of 80 of Equinix's data center locations.
