Equinix integrates Apigee's API platform into its Cloud Exchange

Equinix has tapped Apigee to provide it with application provider interfaces (API) for its Cloud Exchange platform, which gives application developers on-demand access to multiple clouds from multiple networks.

The data center provider is delivering the Apigee Edge API platform as part of its Exchange to provide its customers with cloud provisioning through APIs.

A key benefit of Apigee's API platform is reducing the complexity of provisioning and managing connections to multiple cloud services and networks.

Today, Equinix's Cloud Exchange offers a broad ecosystem of cloud services, including Amazon Web Services (NASDAQ: AMZN), Microsoft Azure (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Google Cloud Platform (NASDAQ: GOOG).

In addition, Equinix will use Apigee Edge to mobilize its own digital workforce, exposing its IT services through mobile apps as required.
