Tarazi will oversee Equinix's International Business Exchange (IBX) network operations and platform strategy, leading the next generation technology and innovation function and contributing to the company's cloud initiatives.

Before coming to Equinix, Tarazi served as Verizon's VP of Enterprise Network Services where he helped drive product strategy, life cycle management, technology and development for its network products including IP, Ethernet and transport to support retail and wholesale customers. He also was the chairman of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).

Tarazi began his career at MCI, a predecessor company to Verizon Business.

During his tenure at MCI he held a number of network planning and engineering roles and led the expansion of business services into various regions including Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

His experience in expanding into international markets will come in handy at Equinix. The data center provider has been increasing its presence in Asia, Brazil, and Europe via its acquisitions of Asia Tone, ALOG, and ancotel, and its own investments in new data centers.
