Equinox adds new East and South long-haul network routes

Equinox, a competitive fiber provider, is continuing its network expansion effort with a new long haul route that includes Charleston, S.C., to Miami and Roanoke, Va., to Cincinnati.

The buildout of these new routes comes on the heels of the routes it announced it would build in Charlotte, N.C., and Georgia. It began to take orders on the Charlotte route while continuing to expand its network in Georgia earlier this month.

Set on becoming an alternative source for businesses and carriers, Equinox said that as routes become available it is "is negotiating and taking customer orders for dark fiber as well as for professional services."

"The 15 long haul routes we have chosen are a very important aspect of the Equinox network, these routes are in high demand and provide diversity to some of the routes that are currently available," said Harold Greene, a spokesperson for Equinox, in a company release.

By the end of the year, the service provider will complete its network operations center (NOC) and is in the process of selecting optical equipment vendors that will carry traffic on its network.
