Ex-Nortel employees find life outside tech industry

To say Nortel's workforce has had a tough year would be an understatement. Some ex-Nortel employees, who have been laid off too many times due to the poor economy and the company's bankruptcy proceedings, have decided they have had enough of the telecom and the technology market.

An article in Canada's Globe and Mail profiled ex-Nortel employee Denis Levesque. This prompted Levesque to consider a career change. He launched a consulting and career-coaching company not long after being let go from Nortel.

But these career changes come with a price. While it's encouraging that Levesque and others can reinvent themselves as entrepreneurs, it also shrinks the technology industry's talent pool.
