FCC to hold broadband plan update meeting

Tools

Fresh with its proposed ‘net neutrality' proposals inciting the ire of wireline and wireless operators alike, the FCC announced that it will have its next public meeting to discuss its national broadband plan on September 29. This next round of meetings will conduct "presentations on the status of the Commission's processes for development of that plan," which it has to turn into Congress this February.

Many of the FCC's meetings conducted in 2009 have focused on providing updates on several issues, including digital TV transition and, of course, the proposed broadband plan and FCC reform. However, the meeting on the broadband plan will likely garner a great deal of attention and comments with the FCC's proposed network neutrality rules fresh in the wireless and wireline industry's minds.
