FCC: MDU TV competition coming

The Federal Communications Commission reportedly is considering new rules that would allow telcos and other service providers to compete for TV customers who live in multi-dwelling units, such as large apartment buildings. Cable TV companies are the incumbents in that particular market segment and current policy and franchising rules discourage other types of carriers from making a play for MDU customers.

The MDU market is a lucrative stronghold for cable TV providers, and as they have started to feel pressure from telco competition, they aren't likely to let the current MDU rules change without a fight.
