France Telecom puts quad-play plans into action

With regulatory approval in hand, France Telecom (NYSE: FTE) has finally launched its much talked about quad play offer under the Orange Open brand.

Orange Open will offer three service tiers with various unlimited mobile calling options. Starting at a little over $50 a month, Orange mini offers users one hour wireless calls and unlimited SMS, broadband, IPTV and unlimited calls to wireline customers in France. Next up is Open 1, which adds an unlimited mobile off-peak calls or unlimited calls to three Orange numbers any time for about $70 a month.

Consumers can also opt to purchase three other packages that offer 2-3 hours of unlimited mobile calls and unlimited international calling for $88, $107 and $139 a month. Each of the Open 1-4 packages come with a wide range of services including: up to 20 Mbps of broadband, 100 TV channels plus VoD and on demand TV, unlimited mobile data use with a fair-use policy of 1Gb per month, and the fixed VoIP service with unlimited calls to fixed lines, a number of international destinations and four French mobile lines, plus one hour of calls to mobile lines.

France Telecom's quad play debut comes after the French Telecom regulator Autorite de la Concurrence lifted a ban on the company after it was privatized 10 years ago to encourage competition.
