Frontier adds all Nest automation products in bid to strengthen broadband customer bond

Frontier has taken another step forward in its home automation drive, announcing support for Nest's full suite of security products including Nest Cam and Nest Protect for qualifying broadband customers.

Since June, Frontier has been offering the Nest Learning Thermostat for $99 to new broadband customers and existing customers that upgraded to a higher speed offering.

Now, Frontier said that customers that purchase a qualifying broadband Internet package can also see savings on the Nest Cam and Nest Protect devices.

Each of these products serves specific roles in the consumer's home.

The Nest Protect device detects household fire smoke and carbon monoxide. It can talk to the consumer when there's an issue and can even send a text message to a consumer when they are not home.

With the Nest Cam, customers can keep an eye on their homes, children, and pets from any location via 1080p HD video.

While Frontier has yet to specifically disclose how much revenue it has gained from offering Nest products, it's clear that they are looking for ways to increase broadband and residential revenue by offering ancillary products like the Nest platforms.

In the second quarter, average monthly residential revenue per customer was $64.43, up 30 cents, or 0.5 percent. Broadband continued to be factor as well as it added 29,200 net new customers, ending the quarter with a total of 2.4 million broadband customers.
