Genachowski wait lingers into summer

Tools

The Senate Commerce Committee is scheduled to finally pick up discussion about Julius Genachowski, the proposed nominee for Federal Communications Commission Chairman, next Tuesday. This comes after the committee cancelled and earlier meeting on the matter that had been scheduled for last month. The story suggests that Genachowski and other commissioner nominees, including Democrat Mignon Clyburn, Republican Meredith Atwell-Baker (who has yet to be nominated, but is widely perceived to be), and current commission Republican re-nominee Robert McDowell, may all be approved at the same time before Congree goes into recess in August.

Meanwhile, the FCC to-do list, which includes universal fund reform, Net neutrality review and development of a national broadband plan, continues to grow longer. Oh, well, at least they got Blair Levin to work on the broadband stuff.
