Genband names Diaz to head up Caribbean and Latin America sales region

Genband has appointed Ricardo Diaz to lead up sales for the company's growing Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) sales region.

Diaz will report directly to John Ryan, Genband's Senior Vice President of Americas Sales.

Over the course of his 30 years in the telecom industry, Diaz has served in various roles in sales, sales management and business development in the technology and service provider markets, with a focus on core infrastructure solutions, software and telecommunications services.

He comes to Genband from Westell Technologies, where he served in a similar position as VP of CALA Sales. Before joining Westell, Diaz held various senior leadership roles at telecom solutions providers Openwave Systems, Tekelec (acquired by Oracle) and Harris Corporation.

Diaz will have plenty of sales opportunities in the CALA region. Already, Genband counts a number of major Latin America service providers, such as América Móvil, Embratel, Telefónica, GVT, Axtel and Iusacell as customers.

He will be armed with not only Genband's traditional network infrastructure solutions, but also its growing suite of software solutions and services it gained from its acquisitions of fring and uReach and its recently announced Kandy communications Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) platform.
