Global Capacity extends international presence into Canadian market

Global Capacity is bringing its One Marketplace solution to locations throughout Canada, a move that it says will accommodate national and managed service providers' desire to  accommodate their business customers' multi-site needs.

Canada represents a sizeable market opportunity. According to Global Capacity, Canadian businesses are served by nearly 150 providers offering data and private line services including incumbent, cable BDUs, utility telcos and resellers.

By bringing the One Marketplace platform to the market, service providers can get real-time quotes from over 60,000 Canadian route kilometers covering over 40 city networks and rural fiber broadband services.

"Demand for Wide Area Network connectivity is prevalent throughout Canada; today there are 445 US-based companies with revenues exceeding $10M who have more than 6,500 remote offices throughout Canada, in need of data connectivity," said Ben Edmond, chief revenue officer of Global Capacity, in a release.

In addition, Global Capacity can provide cross-border interconnection to One Marketplace in New York City, Chicago and Seattle with access to Canada's major telecommunication service providers.

Global Capacity's move into Canada is part of a broader initiative it has taken to extend its service reach into five new markets this year. In 2013, it added Ashburn, Va., San Jose, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis and Seattle.
