Global Crossing names Bill O'Neill as VP of Federal Sales

Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC) is beefing up its public sector talent even further as the service provider has brought Bill O'Neill on board as its new VP of Federal Sales.

O'Neill, who will begin his new role immediately, is probably best known in the federal government space as the VP of Qwest Government Services (NYSE: Q) serving under Qwest Government Services' current president Diana Gowen.

Before joining Qwest's government staff in 2008, O'Neill was the VP and general manager of Product and Managed Services for Nortel's Government Solutions division. Earlier, he served as the general manager of Operations for Raytheon Technical Services in Norfolk, Va.

The appointment of O'Neill comes at a transitional time in Global Crossing's public sector business and the public sector industry as well to meet various government technology mandates around security and IPv6 transition. With a strong focus on cybersecurity, virtualization and IP solutions, Global Crossing continues to attract public sector experts to its division, beginning with John Sutton as the division's general manager and now O'Neill.
