Google looks to accelerate FTTP connection process in Kansas City


Google (Nasdaq: GOOG), according to an article in FierceCable, has filed a patent for a new fiber deployment method and device that would enable to it rapidly connect homes to its 1 Gbps Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) network in Kansas and Missouri without having to dig trenches in the yards of subscribers. Similar to the molding some service providers have used to conceal fiber cables running through MDUs, the Internet search giant described a narrow edging strip that would hide a fiber run from demarcation points in streets to subscriber homes.
